Growing our self through art is a process, in which we both receive and transform our experience. It's an engaging enterprise that can bring us to a beautiful inner place that we alone can truly access.
This is the place we, as artists, want to share with the listener, the reader, the visitors, but this is hard and in many cases impossible. Reaching out for fame, and an online following, thirsting for the other, becoming too focused on the product and so losing the art.
To escape this loneliness trap, it is key to connect.
For that, I state:
The subject
is the work,
is the artist,
is the public,
is the world.
There is and there is no subject.
To connect those two is to save the world.
We are in an orchestra with the world, and if we are really tuned in, we are creating spaces for others to play and exist, as we are worlds in worlds, and so are they.
To truly create is to see what is outside of us as an equal to what is inside of us.
For it makes the singing of the birds not less important than the singing of ourselves, and our heartbeat that beats only to exist can become the drum we follow in play.
